Scottish School Food Awards

We’re one of the supporting sponsors for the inaugural Scottish School Food Awards, and last week Vince Pearson, our Non-Executive Director, and Paul Cowie, our Senior Consultant in Scotland, attended the black-tie awards dinner.

Recognising and rewarding excellence in education foodservice, the awards were hosted at Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh on Thursday 27th October. The evening saw state-run and independent schools throughout Scotland showcase their achievements in nutrition, sustainability, innovation, care and community.

Education is key for us; it’s one of the first sectors that we started in over three decades ago and, in that time, we’ve worked with some of the most prestigious independent schools, colleges and universities, as well as state schools and academies.

Paul, who is based in central Scotland, has worked with many education establishments, helping them set and achieve strategic goals across their catering and hospitality operation. This can involve leading them through tender management projects or streamlining their operational and cost efficiency.

The event was a good opportunity to connect with Scottish schools, discuss the challenges the sector is facing at the moment (it’s certainly a turbulent time), and talk more about how good food plays a significant role in attracting students.
