John Brownless, Joint Managing Director at LitmusFM, is still blazing a fundraising trail for Prostate Cancer UK, having raised over £160k for the charity through his Golf Day events.
These golf events have grown to attract hundreds of people who all attend to enjoy a day of golf but, more importantly, connect with others who have been affected by prostate cancer and learn more about symptoms, early signs and how to get checked.
The first Golf Day of 2023 is taking place at Vistabella Golf Club in Spain, on 24th June. This is a two-shotgun event, with one held in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
A father to two sons and prostate cancer survivor himself, John is on a mission to raise funds to go towards treatments being developed so if either of his boys, and other future generations of men, face a battle with prostate cancer in their lives they will hopefully not have to face the same challenges John has over the years.
Figures from Prostate Cancer UK confirm that one in eight men will get prostate cancer. Catching it early is key in increasing the chances of being cured. Events like the golf days, aren’t just about raising funds for the charity. They unite men and encourage them to come forward and get checked. At his last count, John has had 10 men get diagnosed after reacting to his story and visiting their GP.
We’re incredibly proud of your fundraising successes John; you’ve blown past the six-figure mark and showing no signs of slowing down.
