Improving cybersecurity

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has recently announced their Four ‘Active Cyber Defence’ programmes which will help to immediately improve basic cybersecurity across UK business and government departments.

The “MUST DO” first step for any government organisation is Protected DNS (PDNS). Described in layman’s terms by NCSC as “Blocking bad stuff from being accessed from government systems” Protected DNS takes data GCHQ have about known malicious addresses and simply blocks the user from going there. In this way, it provides automatic protection for public servants visiting infected sites whilst using work systems.

However, in order to fully protect employees, including those using mobile devices or working remotely, an additional layer of protection must be in place in the form of a Secure Web Gateway.

Offering further insight and advice, a guide has been produced which outlines why your organisation should be looking beyond network parameters to ensure remote workers are protected in the Cloud regardless of location.
