Getting to Carbon Net Zero

Climate change is a real and very growing issue. It has been reported that the Earth has recorded 19 of the 20 warmest years on record since 2001*.  The negative impacts of climate change are threatening all our lives in multiple ways including the housing where we live and the food we eat.

In December 2020 the Prime Minister announced a new ambitious target to reduce the UK’s emissions by at least 68% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. Recognising the urgency to go further to tackle climate change, the UK’s new target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions – our Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the Paris Climate Agreement – is among the highest in the world and commits the UK to cutting emissions at the fastest rate of any major economy so far.

Public Sector organisations and their suppliers are already under scrutiny to demonstrate their commitment and progress towards net zero emissions. Consumers are also demanding more from organisations, with many brands aware of the 2050 legislative target already in place for the UK.  With all of this increased focus we are supporting and advising clients in this area.  However, we at The Litmus Partnership also recognise that we have a responsibility to lead by example and manage our own carbon neutral position and have plans to identify projects and the most effective ways to do this.

More announcements will be coming shortly so keep your eyes peeled!
