And they’re off!

Our Non-Executive Director Vince Pearson is joining the renowned Clipper Race, for the final two legs of the race (Leg 7 and Leg 8).  Vince joined the team on Saturday, when he shared some thoughts with us before setting off:

It’s nearly race time and the challenge is upon me. It’s been a busy week with both undergoing some refresher sailing training and also helping the victualling team get provisions for 14 crew for over 50 days. It’s a long time since I have seen so many tins of spam and corned beef!

“The crew have just crossed the Pacific Ocean are still trying to build their energy levels. The reality of what lies ahead and the discomfort of conditions aboard beckons.

“I’ll keep you posted on progress and here’s hoping we might see a whale or two on our journey down the western coast of America.”

Vince is raising money for two charities – hospitality industry charity Springboard, which supports unemployed people to improve their skills and job prospects and Norfolk Community Foundation, which supports youth mental health in the Norfolk area, which is where Vince is from. He aims to raise a total of £15,000, which will be an incredible achievement.

For anyone who would like to donate money, which all goes straight to the charities, you can do so here: www.justgiving.com/campaign/Sail4Recovery

Good luck Vince!
