Litmus In The News – October 2024

We’ve had a busy couple of months announcing news and contributing to various media articles.

Here is a round-up.

Mark Kassapian, Managing Director of Litmus Retail, has appeared in TUCO, Garden Centre Catering and Contract Catering magazine in recent months – he is everywhere!

In TUCO magazine, September issue, Mark appeared in a ‘Freshers Special – Industry Insight’ feature where he talked about the cost of living and the impact this has had on student’s wallets and behaviour changes, insights from recent Consumer Insights sessions he ran at universities, and how there is less indulgence and more considered purchases from students.

In Garden Centre Catering magazine, Autumn issue, he contributed to a ‘Sandwiches and Wraps’ feature, where he talked about the size of the market, flavour combinations, carrier options, dressings and accompaniments. He then commented on fresh vs buying in, streamlining menus and catering for gluten-free.

In Contract Catering magazine, September issue, Mark appeared in a ‘Street Food’ feature, talking about how key it is that street food dishes are authentic, not anodyne anglicised versions, how operators can nail a global cuisine through core flavours and then provide variation through dressing and accompaniments, and how taking inspiration from the high street, as well as immersing in the street food and festival scene, is a good idea to pick up tips and see new ways of doing things.

You can read all three articles here, here and here.

We have recently announced the launch of our new specialist in-house food procurement and catering management system, Litmus Edge, created specifically for the education sector. The Educator magazine and Public Sector Catering both picked up on the news, which you can read more about here and here.

We also had a double page spread run in the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) magazine where Joe Parfitt, our Education Consultancy Director, looked at what boarding schools should be doing to their catering service to help mitigate financial pressures. You can view that here.

Happy reading!
